For Yvonne Lindsay, volunteering as an admin assistant and carer with Volunteering Gold Coast Transport Services is a win-win solution.
“I have previously worked in admin so I am able to utilise past experience in my volunteer role,” she explained.
In her role at Volunteering Gold Coast Transport Services, Yvonne undertakes a variety of tasks.
“As an Admin Assistant I answer phones, take transport bookings, contact clients and complete data entry. In my role as a carer I accompany our clients on social outings, helping them to get on and off the bus and anything else they may need assistance with,” she said.
While every day has its rewards, Yvonne has had a number of highlights during her time as a volunteer.
“Hugs from clients on social outings when they have had a great day out is always a highlight for me,” she said.
Yvonne encourages anyone considering volunteering to take that next step.
“Go for it. It is a very satisfying way to fill spare days. Volunteering makes my days more purposeful and helps to take pressure off other office staff. I enjoy it immensely.”
