Services

Shared Transport

Since 1998 we have been mitigating social exclusion by providing Shared Transport to people with a disability, and seniors over 65 years of age, living independently in the community. These services help ease congestion on our roads and provide a more environmentally friendly and inexpensive means of transport for the public.

Our Shared Transport option is a door-to-door service at a low, flat rate to any destination on the Gold Coast. Clients can use this service to see their doctor, attend events, visit the library, go out for lunch or even just grab a few things from the shop.

Clients are collected from their homes and transported in the comfort of one of our fleet vehicles by our team of volunteer drivers. Those requiring assistance may also benefit from our team of volunteer carers.

Our caring team are regularly trained in senior first aid, CPR, industry updates, alcohol and drug policies and manual handling, to ensure they are well qualified to deal with any situation that might arise. They are the front line of our operations and make sure our clients are safely transported to their destination in clean and comfortable vehicles.

You can learn about what our clients think of our Shared Transport service via their testimonials, or to find out if you’re eligible to use our Shared Transport service, read our FAQs.

Social Outings are offered on a monthly basis to clients over 65 as a means of getting out and participating in a social environment. Services are frequently at capacity so be sure to book your spot early.

Cancer Patient Transport Service

Established in 2009 by former mayor the late Ron Clarke, the service was originally named Monique’s Bus in honour of his daughter. Mr Clarke recognised the lack of transport options available to cancer patients undergoing treatment, and the additional pressure it placed on family and friends in an already difficult time. Since 2015 the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation adopted the funding and management of what is now known as the Cancer Patient Transport Service.

Gold Coast patients receiving cancer treatment are transported in safety and comfort to and from Gold Coast hospitals, relieving at least one pressure of their already difficult journey.

A suggested contribution of $5 each way helps fund this service, but with the help of local businesses and generous individuals, the Foundation raises money to ensure the continuation of this vital community service. There are also many ways you can get involved.
