John’s change of scene after 40 years

With the Commonwealth Games fast approaching, the “Get Set for Games Team” has confirmed that Volunteering Gold Coast Transport Services will be one of the many worst impacted businesses by the Games on the Gold Coast with many street and lane closures during that and the ability to maintain our services will be unpredictable due to the event. Therefore, we have decided to close our Transport Service for the duration of the event, from Friday, March 30 – Sunday, April 15 inclusive, to ease the stress for our many volunteer drivers in the challenging traffic conditions.

The following tips will be helpful for you to minimise the impact of the Games:

  • Treat the break in the same way you would Christmas
  • We would urge you to stock up on groceries and enjoy the Games on TV – or live in the streets or by attending venues.
  • Please book transport services before and after the Games period for your regular transport needs.
  • Medical and shopping appointments can be booked before and after the Games.
  • During the Games we will be available to take bookings and appointments; however, these will only be for transport services from Monday, April 16 onwards
  • Please let family, friends, neighbours and service providers know that we won’t be able to run transport services during the Games.
  • We have notified all of the community organisations we work with that we will be closed.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but with the road closures and the thousands of extra visitors congesting the roads will make it difficult to predict the time taken for trips for our vehicles . Volunteering Gold Coast Transport Services  will be back up and running from Monday, April 16 for all your transporting needs.

If you have any more questions regarding the following closure, please contact Volunteering Services Australia on 07 5526 5288.
