Volunteering Gold Coast Transport has continued to experience growth despite being subjected to State Government funding cuts at the beginning of the financial year.
Volunteering Gold Coast Transport Services are on track to complete over 110,000 community transport trips by June 30 – equating to over 2100 trips every week and an overall 1.5 million kilometres travelled this year alone.
This is a significant increase from the 2017-18 financial year where a total of 66,800 trips were completed.
Simon Nugus, CEO of Volunteering Gold Coast Inc. is extremely proud of these results and has recognised the efforts made by staff and volunteers to achieve this outcome.
“VGC has had to overcome some obstacles this year but in the end has achieved some amazing results. I am very proud of the work that the whole VGC team has put in this year that has allowed us to attain this level of growth and look forward to what the future holds for the organisation,” said Simon.
The next big challenge for VGC is recruiting more volunteer drivers which will assist with the ever increasing demand for Community Transport services.
“We are currently on the lookout for more volunteer drivers to join our team. Volunteer Drivers are an integral part in our organisation and we would not be able to provide our services to the Gold Coast Community without them,” said Simon.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer driver can apply by visiting www.volunteeringgc.org.au and filling in the “Become a Volunteer” form.
